Most likely causes

  1. DPF differential-pressure sensor A internal failure or drift — Sensor electronics can fail or drift, producing implausible or out-of-range signals that trigger a circuit fault.12
  2. Plugged or restricted pressure sample tubes to the DPF — Soot, condensation, or debris can block the small sample lines, causing pressure reading errors and circuit-range faults.12
  3. Wiring or connector damage/corrosion at the sensor or PCM — Chafed, corroded, or loose wiring/connectors can create opens, shorts, or high resistance in the sensor circuit.1
  4. Leaking pressure sample tubes or fittings — A leak in the sample system can cause implausible pressure readings and range/performance issues.2
  5. Related aftertreatment faults contributing to abnormal pressure data — Other DPF-related issues such as efficiency problems or excessive regeneration frequency can accompany sensor circuit faults.34

How to diagnose

  1. Verify code and freeze-frame data; confirm P2452 is present and note engine conditions at set.
  2. Visually inspect DPF differential-pressure sensor, its connector, and wiring for damage, corrosion, or oil contamination.
  3. Inspect both pressure sample tubes from the DPF to the sensor for plugging, kinks, moisture, or cracks; check fittings for leaks.
  4. Perform a sensor electrical check per service information: reference voltage, ground, and signal circuit integrity to the PCM.
  5. Compare live DPF differential-pressure readings at idle and during a controlled rev to expected values; look for stuck, erratic, or out-of-range signals.
  6. If the sensor tests good electrically, disconnect and cap the sample tubes to test sensor output with atmospheric pressure; evaluate response.
  7. Check for accompanying codes such as P2453, P2002, or P2459 that may indicate related DPF or regeneration issues.
  8. Clear codes and test drive with data logging to confirm the fault returns under normal operating conditions.
